I had a DREAM...

I dram about fashion. About style. About how it changed.

How a simple tee with a vest and flats became the new sweats and crocs. We all had to look overdone to look into fashion. What was that all about? Fashion does change, but style dosen't.

Style is not about having a thousand new trends on you outfit. It's about expressing yourself Trends are new things that people start wearing, but it dosen't mean you have too.

I sometimes believe that trends are somewhat unreasonable. First of all, some people just don't look good on them. They wear them because everyone else is. Even though, they look stupid. It's better to look good than stupid.

So wear what you know is right for you. What you like and feel good in. When you look in the mirror and like what you see.. that's what's right. So what if your not into fashion and trends.. your into style, just like everybody else is. Style is not what's in , it's what you do to express yourself, what you do on the outside to make people recognize you... that's your style.

What's in your mind when you hear Forever 21?

Lots of you think cheap, fake, immitation. Well Forever21 isn't always as cheap as you thought so.

You all probably know that I've been looking for a reasonable (cheap) motorcycle jacket. Well, I knew that Forever21 must have one (even if it was faux leather). So I checked and guess what I found.

I thought it looked great at first and I was minutes to buying it. Until, I saw the price...$150 in Forever21. I've never seen anything cost over $100 in Forever 21. I was schocked. The thing is, that it's 100% leather. Not everything in Forever21 is fake.

Adding DENIM to your Wardrobe!

Denim is one of the world's most famous fabrics. We use it mostly on jeans. This summer I spent it wearing everything but jeans, only skirts, shorts, and dresses. I did missed my pair of blue jeans that make peoples outfits complete. So why not wear denim in many other ways.

1. Denim Outerwear

They are ah-bsolutely cheaper than that leaher jacket you've been saving for.

A vest goes with almost everything and so does this one.

My mom's old dark wash denim blazer looks great with my new floral dress, it kinda gives it an edge.

2. Denim Shoes

Denim flats are so ah-dorable yet so chic and simple, don't you think?

3. Denim Dress

Fabulous!!! Chic!!! This denim dress looks totally great. It looks retro and effortlessly chic. I think this is my fav denim pick!
In the fashion world there are sooo much more denim options to look after. I just told you one of my latest obsessions. Denim can be so many things!

WENT SHOPPING!!!!!!! Continued!!

While I was looking for a swim suit (post below), I bought other things too!!

1. Printed Vest Shirt

It's a white t-shirt with this hippie vest and necklace printed on it and the at the bottom it has this upside down U shape. I really liked the creativity of this shirt. I'll probably pair it with a pair of skinny jeans or latex leggings i've been dying to buy.

2. Wrinkled Skinny Jean or Pant

Unfortunately, thanks to my not so good quality web-cam the picture wasn't so detailed. This jean or pant (don't know which) is skinny... I know I said I was somewhat sick of them, but when I saw this wrinkled jeans I just wanted to show them off with all those new blouses and shirts I've been dying to wear. Don't you think that is a good reason? BTW my mom bought the same pair but in green.

3. Fabulous Vest

This navy vest has this sewed cream and purple patterns with beautiful gold chains and like coins on the the edges. I found this vest very boho like. I can use this to throw on a simple shirt with jeans and look great.

Let me know if you liked!!!

WHAT 2 WEAR SOLVED...well kind of...

This friday at school we are having this BACK 2 School Pool Party and I went shopping with my mother today or a new Bathing Suit (I've worn out my summer one).

According to my mother, I had to buy a conservative bathing suit that wouldn't show off my body way too much... since it's for school. I usually buy my swim suits at Everying But Water which is great but somewhat pricey. The nicest one I found was a one piece red one that suited my body well, but I didn't like it much. We couldn't find a bathing suit anywhere. I even tried American Eagle, which is a big risk since every girl in school shops there I wouldn't be the only one in that bathing suit.

We checked Bora Bora, Old Navy, Arden B. (just in case), and many others. We came in every store that had a swim apparel. We walked by the new Tommy Hilfiger store that opened since we saw a small swim section.

I found this swimsuit!

Colors: White (backround), Navy, and Red
Price: $39.99 (used to be $82, SALE!!)
Style: Monokini

I know these nautical colors may seem too 4th of July-ish, but I kinda liked it. It looked great on me and I felt comftrable in it so I bought it.

The next what 2 wear problem is what to wear that day at school since you can go however you want. But no worries, I'll come up with something!!

No, I didn't forget u!!!

I've just been a bit too busy during this week. I just took a break from homework. I'm trying to relax by thinking about fashion, which I ah-dore!!

My WishList !!!!!

1. Urban Outfitters Dolce Vita's Bomber Jacket

Do you love it or do you loooooove it? I've been looking for the purfect leather jacket, but when I saw this one online, I fell in love. I'm looking for a cheaper version of $495. Even though this is the most fabulous one I've ever seen.

2. This Colorful Dress!!

Guess what? It's Forever21, well actually it's twelvebytwelve, which is another F21 store. I find it quite colorful and flirty. Can't wait till'it comes out!!! I'm probably wearing it for my Grads Class Night. It'a informal party where they give name out the elected candidates and give out our grad blouses.

I haven't been searching the web too much lately, but I'll try to keep you up with the latest!

Just Got Home from School!!! New Crisis!!

So, you know I posted about how strict my school was about uniforms and that I couldn't go way ahead to gossip girl trends, right? Well guess what? There was a school assembly and the school just got wayyyyy more strict than ever.
New Rules:

  1. No Big Earrings, only earing that stick to the earlobe
  2. You can only use hair accesories that are the colors white, navy, and black (ugly colors)
  3. No nail colors (only clear, it used to be pale colors)
  4. Boys hair must be short
  5. No gum in campus (I don't chew gum, it causes blowting) or else suspension

This is so unfair. My school might as well be military! I just bought new hair accesories and I don't think none of them were white, navy, or black. Ughhhh!!! How can I look great with all these rules. What can I do about that?

Anyway, today I had a great day! And I got SUPER GREAT NEWS I'm running for School President!!! I know it may sound geeky and stuff, but everyone kept telling me how responsible and smart I was (sorry I'm being so modest) and it just kinda happened. I'm running against this guy who is... well...lets just say everybody laughed when they heard he was running. I felt bad about him, even though he's not the nicest guy around. I'm thinking about what cool stuff I'm gonna propose so people vote for me and cool ways to make my campaign. Any tips!!??

Well, if you want you can send me some of your first day of school outfits and I'll be sure to make this great contest about who one.

i heart you!

School Starts MONDAY (for me)!!

I just want to go to school already. I can't stand the exitement. I wish fall was here already, you know what I mean? Sadly, I won't be able to strut that totally fabulous back to school outfit some of you do ( I go to private school). Instead I'll be showing off the same uniform everyone else is wearing. Unfortunately, my school is a bit strict, so I can't go all the way to Gossip Girl (bummer). My school is so lame only when it comes to uniforms and trends.
Rules:

  • Can't use other than the school's official jacket
  • No nail painting (but you can still do nude and french styles)
  • Can only use school black shoes (flats)
  • No pins, belts, hats, tights, too short socks
  • No makeup (still, I use not noticible kind)

I hope my school not the only school with those kind of rules. Yet, I do wear jewelry and cool head accesories. This semester I'll try to go with real cool ones. Even though school uniform rules are not the best, I like wearing uniforms. I like not being able to burn my mind everyday picking a different outfit and wasting money so I don't wear the same thing again. You just wear the same thing everyday just like everyone else. That way nobody talks about how exotic your new blouse is or how out of style you look. Though, the school has days when they let you come the way you want to which is nice once in awhile. And it's okay since plaid is in right??

School starts in 2 days!!! I know most of you don't want to even think about it. But I can't wait to get to see everyone!!! Though clases get in the way!! Make sure you go with that great outfit you've been waiting to wear!

The Sick and Tired, Waiting to Throw Out Post

The title says it all. Some people just hate trends and still wear them or try them out, don't know why. So here's a list of things I'm waiting to go to the out list (I think some are).

1. SKINNY JEANS:

This is a trend that is soooo big!! Skinny jeans go with almost everything, even dresses. I was ah-bsolutely in love with them at first sight since I love retro style (sometimes) and this jeans were soo 80's. But now, I'm tired of squeezing my legs into them, you know what I mean?? I want to be able to feel free and relaxed instead of tight and stiff. But, I'm starting to get a vibe their somewhat out of style.

2. MIXING PRINTS:

I've tried this and it's kinda hard not to look like a person who dosen't know how to dress themselves. Some people can pull this off, but I probably can only pull two different prints together. I'm not really tired of this trend, I'm just not good at pulling it off.

3. CROCS:

I'm being totally honest and frank with this one. I bought crocs when they first came out, I never wore them casually, I just wore them to the beach when snorkling (their rubber material and holes were easy to swim with). But now in school, people wear them with everything, especially with socks under them. I know they maybe comfy, but I can't picture myself hanging out with crocs. No offense to all you croc lovers... but I just don't like them at all.

4. SWEATS:

Not for school period. It's just not right. If you really like them wear them in a more dressy form (check out a post I made The Look Book) or just wear them at home for lounging. No airplains either.... they look like you just jumped out of bed. I've personaly never (ever) bought sweats... I've never been interested.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone, please let me know by a comment. And if you are sick and tired, waiting to throw out too please let me know.

i heart you!

Andrea

P.S Sorry I haven't posted in such long time!

Beauty (I know, I know)

Eyes:

I know this is a fashion blog, but beauty has to do with fashion too right? Anyway, we've all noticed that for summer gold was the make-up color-must-have, yet celebs and trends seem still attached to this trend. So don't throw out that gold eye-shadow you bought just yet, there may be a possibility that gold hues stay for fall.

But a must eye shadow trend we've seen in the runways is the Panda Eye Look. Of course, runways exagerate a bit, but you can make your eyes pop with black.

Personally, I don't wear to much eye make-up and found that the gold eye shadow has this better natural look (I'm praying gold stays).

Face:

You ah-viously want to go to school with that faux-tan making the apperance you had the best summer on the beach. So brush in your bronzer on your cheeks, forehead, nose bridge, and chin (where you normal get burned). You can mix with a touch of pink blush the bronzer for your cheeks too.

Those of you who have really pale skin and enjoy to flaunt it, should go for that flushed look. It'll make your skin look like an angel, practically.

Treat skin well!!! Remember to have a great skin routine according to your skin type (maybe I'll post something about this someday, hmmm).

Lips:

You glossy girls!!! Start with applying gloss in the center of the lips and blending it to the sides. Having more shine in the center of the lips makes the apperance of fuller lips.

I've heard that matte lips are going to be a trend pretty soon..... is this a rumor??

Well I hope you guys have your beauty ready for school, I start in Monday!!! Eeeekkkk!!

Back 2 School Lookbook:

So I've been getting inspiration and getting ideas for my fall wardrobe. I'm trying to make my clothes look effortless and trendy at the same time. I think I'm going for this retro type.

1.The Oversized

This American Apparalel sweatshirt came up when I was looking for an oversized cardigan to go with leggings. The way the model puts her sleeves up and has that skinny belt knot (which has been on the fall runways) looks kinda effortless. I've never bought a sweats (really) and I think that for once it may look kinda stylish with leggings underneath and some high-heels (oxfords or gladiators).

As I was saying, I was looking for an oversized cardigan to wear with leggings. I found this Victoria's Secret cardigan, which the material seems lightweight. I do not quite like how the model is wearing it though, but I bet it'll look great once I buy it and match it up with other clothes.

2. The Latex Leggins

Every celeb is out struting theirs, so why not strut yours. These latex leggings are the cheapest ones I've found so far, $42. But I've heard that pretty soon this fall Forever21 are going to bring some and I bet they're gonna be less than $20. Anyway, these leggings can be worn with a simple shirt or blouse (since they are worn like pants) and for shoes... just think of them as skinny pants.

3. Chain Mania

Chains are a total must for the fall. Givenchy had models struting a bunch of chains their necks. Of course, there are designers like Marciano selling $198 chains. This one I posted is from Forever21 $5.80. So link your chains this fall for the must accesory.

This is just the beginning of Fall....

Andrea

P.S Also heard hair bows are in!!

Use your Head for a Good Cause!!!!! Part 2!!

So, maybe you've noticed I posted a few days ago about the new headband brand "Heart on your Head" by Mary (hailmary-fullofgrace.blogspot.com). So as soon as I knew about this brand I asked her if I can interview her for my blog and she kindly said yes.

Mary is a fabulous 4'9 Canadian that has inspired my style by the way she puts outfits together in her blog. Her beautiful red hair (which BTW was once black) makes the home-made headbands stand out even more. Even though nobody in her family is into fashion that dosen't stop Mary from being a fashion icon to many girls.

First of all, what inspired you to start the Heart on your Head line?

Everyone has a talent, no matter how minute. I really find myself to be a creative person, but designing big things like clothing and such were far too intimidating for me, so I focused my skills on something I couldn't find in the stores; creative headbands. I've sold them at stores around my area for a while, but I kept getting comments like "When are you going to sell them on etsy?" I thought about it, but honestly, I didn't need the money at the time, but I did want to make a difference in the world, so I realized "Why not create my own volunteer opportunity doing something I enjoy?" Constantly inspired by my lovely muses, I ended up creating my own website!

As I see the headbands are divided in three collections. What is the cause of this?

There's no symbol behind the number three, two more collections will be up shortly. But what is important are the people behind them; they are all incredibly inspirational young women who put so much effort into volunteering, yet still dress in a phenomenal way. Jennie, for example, always looks incredibly polished with cute bows and nautical buttons even when she's marching in a parade for raising awareness or undergoing a painful procedure at the hospital. I wanted something that captures both aspects of their lives and celebrated what they have done.

That's very inspiring to know. What's next besides opening two more collections?

Well, the two more collections are pretty big right now; the Erin will be very vintage inspired and painfully feminine, think the earlier 1960s and all of the proceeds will go to the WWF, while the Shaniqua is going to feature a lot of more urban, trendy pieces, and she's still deciding on her charity. I just want to keep expanding styles and being inspired by different kinds of people, and meeting new youth.
Honestly, I never even know what I'll be doing next. I'm going into Public Relations, so I can do a wide variety of things, but one minute it's writing for a magazine, the next it's making a website, so honestly, you'll just have to keep reading the blog, haha. Because I honestly never know...

Many girls left comments on your blog saying that they adored your headbands and saying that they felt inspired by you. But, what inspires you?

I love inspiration because I can never quite grasp where it comes from. The other day I was at the grocery store, and something about the whole vibe of selecting the best fruits, getting in to the music they were playing, and having a grand old time loading up my cart. When I got home, I totally channeled the whole 50s housewife look. I saw nothing visually inspiring at the store, but the whole vibe lead into a role play. Really, moods and experiences inspire me more than actual images. Images may be pretty, but when I decide what I want to wear one day, I think more in what character I would like to be today. Would I like to produce the image of a powerful CEO or Alice in Wonderland? And then I dress accordingly.
But that's not to say I like visuals any less! As cliche as it is, I will always love Audrey. She has the most beautiful face in the world and her clothes act to frame it, not distract from it. I am also a huge fan of Michelle Obama, not even for what she wears as much as how strong yet poised she appears. Like or dislike her attitude, I think she is gorgeous but intelligent, and you can tell it in the way she dresses. Honestly, I just like taking very clean, classic things, but embracing my youth at the same time. I'm not a pile it on girl, I tend to like to take the simple road, but because I have bright red hair and a lot of funny accessories, I end up looking a little different.

Reading your blog shows how much you care for fashion and style. What does style means to you?

As I stated earlier, style really is my costume for the day. Although all of the clothes in my closet are all related, they really vary piece by piece. They're like a huge family that has a lot of second cousins and different cultures married into it, but when you take the picture, they all look kind of like they belong together. So really, my style is very distinct, but really in a "I never thought you'd wear that" way.
I really feel that fashion IS superficial, but since when is superficial a bad thing? Like it or not, you will and are going to be judged on the way you look. Humans do it to everything. They do it when shopping for a new car, or to see which fruit is freshest, or even when looking at art. Visuals are important to our world, and when you work with your packaging, you start to sell your personality to all the people who will only ever see you for 5 seconds. Why should that matter? I don't know, but it sure makes looking around you much nicer...

Last question.. any comments or shout outs?

Shout outs? Of course! JUDE. LOVE YOU. Seriously, that boy is half the reason I even started my blog. Without his expert photo skills, anything I've produced would never be even half as good, and I can almost guarantee the website would not have happened. I am so useless at dreamweaver! Oh, and of course, I always need someone to be there wen my OCD self goes all crazy and tries on 267279 different things until I find my best "costume" for the day.
I'd also like to holla at my bestie Erin, she's really influenced my style even though we dress nothing alike, really. Together, we actually went out and explored the world. While other kids had their parents drive them to the mall, we were going everywhere with a few bus tickets and that's really how I got to realize what's out there, even in my own city. She has a really adventurous and thrifty spirit so I'm never alone when I'm seeking out costume jewelry at antique stores, or wanting to eat something other than fast food for lunch. She is my side kick, only a foot taller than me. I love it.
Thanks also to everyone in the collections; Emlyn, Eilidh, Jennie... they're all so fabulous, there's a reason you're featured! I also appreciate Adrian, who was the first store to accept my modest headband beginings and really encourage me to do my own thing even though my bubble of a life told me to consume rather than create.
Last but not least; both my grandmothers are named Mary, and I love them to death. They have both inspired me in completely different ways, and seeing them grow old is saddening but comforting, knowing I will always have to keep the name Mary dignified.

On the Look Out 4 Shoes!!!
